Meditation
“Yoga is a light that, once lit, never goes out. The better you practice, the brighter the light.” B.K.S. Iyengar
My classes
As we all surely know by now, meditation can reduce stress, alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, and improve sleeping quality and productivity and concentration at work or study.
But meditation is much more than a quick mental health fix.
These are ancient techniques offering timeless wisdom on understanding who we really are, what our purpose in life is, and how to truly love. It’s a way to get to know yourself, to sit in the stillness and quiet ,to more intimately understand your true self – your soul.
Mantra meditation can awaken the dormant love of God in you, cleansing the dust from your heart and opening up the communication channel to build a real relationship with the divine.
Vipassana meditation can enliven you to/heighten your sensitivity to the changing states in your body and mind, teaching you in an embodied way the lessons of the impermanence of things. That these fleeting states of sensation in the body, thoughts in the mind, and emotions in your heart are not you, there is a you sitting back watching these changing tides.
And metta meditation can soften the guarded edges of your heart into connected compassion for others, can melt the hardness/hard edges of resentment into forgiveness for others, and even for yourself.
There are so many different styles, techniques and philosophies of meditation. Each has a specific historic context and a proper way to be practised and applied. Each has a different goal in mind, and will thus evoke/create different changes in your heart, mind and life.
I have spent over a decade vigorously practising different meditation methods, and my goal is to support you in finding the right practice for you. I personally practice japa mantra meditation, for two hours a day. It is my belief that this is the simplest practice with the most profound effects. But everyone’s journey looks different.
